5 High Paying Jobs With No Future

Some of the jobs that have gone away, may not be coming back. Take a look at the top 5 high paying jobs that have no future.

Finding a great job that brings home a big salary can be a dream come true when you are looking for a job. Of course, finding great, high paying jobs with security is even more important. According to MoneyWatch, there are several high paying jobs that have no future. As times have changed, these jobs have gone away in large number and are starting to be phased out altogether.

So, lets take a look at the top 5 high paying jobs with no futures:

  1. Fashion designer – Fashion houses are starting to outsource more of their work and there are fewer and fewer job openings in the world of Fashion. Even though students are still attending fashion school and dreaming of creating their own masterpieces, the projection is that by 2018, only 200 new designers will be able to find work.

  2. Insurance underwriter – The decline in home sales coupled with new software that allows one person to do three times as much work has done away with the need to hire more people into this profession. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics estimates that the field will lose 4% of its jobs by 2018.

  3. Travel Agent – So many people are planning their vacations using online site to find the cheapest fare, that travel agents are really struggling. Sites like Hotwire and Orbitz have made it easy for anyone to plan their own vacation, eliminating the need for an agent. The BLS estimates that by 2018, the industry will lose 1,200 jobs.

  4. Newpaper reporter – According to the BLS, 4,400 jobs will disappear in this field. Newspapers have been struggling in recent years, and many of them have started buying content on a per article basis from freelance reporters, rather than keep a team of reporters on staff.

  5. Chemist – Almost half of all chemists are working in manufacturing firms. As the manufacturing companies continue to outsource their research and development to small firms, they are cutting out the jobs for in-house chemists.

  1. Are there still a fair amount of travel agents making a living? I thought most of these have already been phased out.
